The BIO International Convention (BIO) attracts 16,000+ biotechnology and pharma leaders who come together for one week of intensive networking to discover new opportunities and promising partnerships. It brings together a wide spectrum of life science and application areas including drug discovery, biomanufacturing, genomics, biofuels, nanotechnology and cell therapy.

The Berlin biotech sector in particular is growing steadily and is characterized by a dynamic startup-scene. 80% of the more than 230 biotech companies operate in the field of biomedicine and are developing innovative therapeutics and diagnostics to treat cancer, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. They benefit from a strong local research landscape, close links to the industry and an excellent scientific infrastructure for clinical trials with more than 130 clinics, including Europe's largest university hospital – the Charité.
