German climate-tech company Purpose Green has secured $14.8 million in a new funding round led by Fifth Wall, bringing its total funding to $18.4 million, according to a company press release.

The Berlin-based startup, founded in 2023, specializes in decarbonizing the building sector through its hybrid end-to-end solution for energy renovations and ESG management. The investment comes at a crucial time, as Europe faces the challenge of renovating 240 million buildings to meet current energy standards.

Purpose Green's proprietary "Energy Light" tool provides real-time insights into buildings' energy status. The company's digital SaaS platform, Green+, leverages over 15 million calculations to deliver instant energy analysis for individual buildings or entire portfolios.

In less than a year, Purpose Green has already evaluated more than 1 million square meters according to ESG criteria. The company serves as a one-stop shop for cost-effective decarbonization, combining digital solutions with expert implementation through energy consultants and construction managers.

"We're thrilled to welcome Fifth Wall as a strategic partner," said Lucas Christel, co-founder of Purpose Green. "Their investment underscores the importance of our mission to drive sustainable change in the building sector."

Fifth Wall, the largest asset manager focused on built environment decarbonization, manages approximately $3 billion in assets. The venture capital firm's investor network includes major companies like BNP Paribas Real Estate, CBRE, and Hilton.

The building sector currently accounts for 40% of energy consumption and 36% of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe. Purpose Green's solution addresses key industry challenges, including lack of digitalization and complex bureaucratic processes that often hinder energy renovation projects.
