Root Global, a climate tech startup focused on the food and beverage industry, has successfully raised €8M in a seed funding round. According to the press release the round was led by Point Nine's Christoph Janz, with participation from Project A, HelloWorld, Arc Investors, and seasoned startup operators.

Founded two years ago, Root Global has developed the RootOS platform, which assists companies in managing their climate footprint and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The startup has already onboarded some of Europe's largest food and beverage players, including the continent's biggest dairy plant and the world's largest fast-food chain.

Root Global's approach focuses on tackling one food product category at a time, addressing emissions deep within supply chains. This strategy aligns with the nature of carbon accounting, where a company's emission footprint includes emissions from all its suppliers.

The funding will support Root Global's expansion plans, including growing its data coverage over the next 18 months. The company aims to help businesses not only assess their carbon footprint but also implement tangible reduction measures.

Climate performance has become a critical business indicator, with enterprises now mandated to disclose their climate performance and set Net Zero targets. Root Global's solution addresses this urgent need in a market estimated to be worth €400 billion.
