In a major move that's set to reshape the European logistics landscape, digital freight forwarder sennder has announced its acquisition of C.H. Robinson's European Surface Transportation (EST) operations. According to a press release from the company, this deal will create one of the largest Full Truck Load (FTL) providers in Europe.

The combined entity will boast an impressive annual revenue of EUR 1.4 billion and a workforce of 1,700 employees across more than 20 European locations. This acquisition significantly expands sennder's network density and technological capabilities in the region.

sennder's CEO, David Nothacker, emphasized the strategic importance of the deal: "This acquisition will be pivotal in advancing sennder's roadmap. sennOS, the technological powerhouse behind sennder, requires scale and volume density to unlock its full potential. This M&A transaction gives us that scale."

The Berlin-based unicorn currently deploys over 40,000 trucks across Europe, with access to more than 120,000 vehicles. This extensive network will now be further bolstered by the addition of EST's resources and expertise.

One of the key benefits of this acquisition will be the enhanced value proposition for carriers. They can expect higher utilization rates, fewer empty kilometers, faster payments, and technology that reduces their administrative workload.

The deal, which is expected to close in Q4 2024, is subject to employee consultations and applicable merger control proceedings. If successful, it will mark sennder's sixth acquisition in its nine-year history, solidifying its position as a leading player in the European digital freight forwarding market.
